A Columbus man was indicted Monday for murder in connection with the death of a 14-month-old toddler in December.
According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien, Kurt Flood, 24, is charged with one count of murder, one count of felonious assault, one count of child endangering, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of gross abuse of a corpse.
Flood is accused of killing 14-month-old Cameron Beckford by blunt force trauma to the head in December of 2014. Four days later, Beckford’s body was found in a creek near Flood’s home.
If convicted, Flood faces 23 years to life in prison.
Beckford’s mother, Dainesha Stevens pleaded guilty last week to involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.
As a condition of her plea agreement, O’Brien said that Stevens agreed to testify against Flood.
Flood is expected to be arraigned Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
