A man was critically injured after being shot in the upper body early Sunday morning.

Police said 40-year-old Deshawn Givens was fired at outside of an apartment in the 4400 block of Walford Street, just south of Morse Road, around 12:50 a.m. Police said he was shot twice by an unknown suspect.

Givens was rushed to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition but medics said he is expected to survive.

During their investigation, police said they were able to locate three shell casings from the property. Witnesses also reported seeing a black car speed off from the scene.
