A man and a woman are dead after a fire in Galion overnight.
According to Galion Fire Department Chief Phil Jackson, the fire started shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday on Laughbaum Drive.
When firefighters arrived, the split-level home was fully engulfed.
According to Jackson, the bodies of 78-year-old Charles Phillip Longstreth and 72-year-old Elisa Beth Mitchell were found in a bedroom.
Jackson said the fire appears to have started in a second floor bedroom, but the severity of the damage will make determining the exact cause difficult.
Fire investigators reported that no smoke alarms were present in the home.
The State Fire Marshal’s office was called to help investigate.
