A student at the University of South Carolina faces a felony charge after being accused of spitting in her housemates’ food and coating it with glass cleaner.
22-year-old Hayley King was charged with malicious tampering after she was recorded on a surveillance camera set up by her suspicious housemates. According to the police report, the three women shared an off-campus house.
They weren’t getting along, but King refused to move out. Her housemates set up a camera to see if she retaliated while they were away.
Police say King confessed to the incident during a recorded interview.
A preliminary hearing was waived, and the case now goes before a grand jury.
Malicious tampering of food is a felony with a maximum penalty of 20 years if convicted.
