A man suspected of killing his girlfriend made his first appearance in court Wednesday.

Neil Fenlser is charged with murder after allegedly shooting 26-year-old Crista Spears.

The incident happened Tuesday morning at about 5 a.m. on Rosland Drive.

Police said it was initially thought Spears had accidentally shot herself, but after an investigation Fensler’s story was inconsistent with physical evidence, which revealed that Fensler was allegedly responsible. He and Spears moved from Green County, Ohio into the Rosland Drive town home with his father, according to police.

Fensler was arraigned in a Franklin County courtroom and was issued a bond of $1 million.
