It’s a big clean up day in Chillicothe after Monday’s storm.

Strong winds knocked down more than 20 large trees with some landing on power lines and houses.

On Brownell Street, a tree 10 feet around, fell on to a power line.  The tree was in Brad Depugh’s front yard.

“It was unbelievable. I’m glad nobody got hurt the way it fell,” Brad Depugh said. “It was just you know luck I guess.”

Usually, his wife Sandra parks her car in front of their house where the tree fell. She said she decided to wait a few minutes to let the storm pass.

“We made it just by a few minutes. We didn’t get home until right after it fell. So we made it by the grace of God,” Sandra Depugh said.

City crews will be working overtime to clean up the storm damage. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
