Delaware County law enforcement, EMS, and health officials say “Click It, Or Ticket” is a message that’s not going away until everyone wears a seat belt.

In the last five years in Delaware County, Lt. Kevin Knapp said 50 percent of fatal accidents involve people not wearing a seat belt.

“It’s extremely frustrating. In my 23-year career, nothing has changed. It’s been the same,” he said.

The Delaware General Health District’s Safe Communities Coalition launched the “Click It or Ticket. Click to Live Campaign.”

Lt. Knapp said the group won’t give up on hammering the message home. Law enforcement will be traveling to schools showing off a new video by the Safe Communities Coalition.

The video includes stories from people who have been personally impacted by loved ones not wearing their seatbelts.

The Safety Coalition is also launching a media campaign. The group is asking people to take a picture of themselves putting on a seatbelt and use the hashtag #ClickItToLive and #ClickItOrTicket.

The campaign runs May 18-31. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
