Suspect Arrested After East Columbus SWAT Standoff (Image 1)

A man has been arrested after a standoff with SWAT officers Wednesday morning.

According to Columbus police, early Wednesday morning a woman told officers she had allegedly been assaulted at a residence in the 1700 block of Bide-A-Wee Park Avenue.

The woman told police the suspect was operating a meth lab at the residence, and according to police he had several felony warrants. 

The woman said she was both physically and sexually assaulted and held captive inside of the home.

“I tried to get out for about a month,” she said. 

SWAT officers were called to the scene and after a standoff that lasted several hours, the suspect was arrested around 9 a.m.
