Five Columbus City Schools have lifted their lockdowns after an earlier police search for burglary suspects Thursday.

Oakmont Elementary, Shady Lane Elementary, Woodcrest Elementary, Yorktown Middle and Walnut Ridge High School were placed on level 3 lockdown after a foot chase in the area between Columbus police and burglary suspects. All lockdowns were lifted just before noon Thursday.

According to police, the initial report came from an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old females who were at the home in the 5600 block of Oakmont Drive, when they heard a violent knock at the door. The women didn’t open the door and told police they heard the suspects say they were looking for a rock, and then they heard a window shatter.

The women locked themselves in an upstairs room and called police. When officers arrived on scene, the suspects ran out of the house in different directions.

Two suspects, 26-year-old Robert Marshall and a 13-year-old male, have been taken into custody and police are searching for a possible third suspect.

At one point there was a report of a person with a gun in a school, but police said there was no evidence this was ever true.
