The Columbus Zoo staff is mourning the loss of one of the tiger cubs born a month ago today after it succumbed to pneumonia Thursday morning, according to the Zoo Facebook page.
All three cubs have been treated for bacterial infections since shortly after birth; the health of the remaining two cubs seems to be improving. The cubs are being raised by the Zoo’s animal care team after the first-time tiger mother did not nurse them. The tiger cubs are temporarily off exhibit.
The three males were born April 21 at the zoo and weighed only 2.5 pounds.
