Investigators are searching for the suspect who stole a gold bracelet from a Diamond Cellar store.
According to investigators, at about 12:20 p.m., Thursday May 7, an unidentified man walked into the Diamond Cellar on Sawmill Road and stole a San Marco men’s gold bracelet, valued at $5,500.00.
The suspect entered the store, walking around until an associate could assist him. Appearing as though he was serious about a purchase, the suspect asked to look at different bracelets in order to compare them. After being handed three bracelets, he stated he had selected the heavier, more expensive one. The associate allowed the suspect to continue holding the desired piece while the other two bracelets were put away.
The suspect stated he was hot and was going to get a bottle of water from the store cooler, which is located next to the front entry door. The suspect then ran out of the store and across the street before disappearing. The associate gave chase, but stopped short before seeing if there may have been a “get away” vehicle involved. Because the suspect didn’t appear nervous or suspicious in any manner, the sales associate did not think twice about turning his back on the suspect while he still held the bracelet.
The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40-years-old, 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 200 pounds. He had an athletic build, short light brown or blond hair, clean shaven, and was last seen wearing a blue shirt, khaki cargo shorts, and black tennis shoes with low-cut white socks.
