One person was injured before a Licking County standoff tied up law enforcement for hours Saturday morning.

Police said they are searching for a male suspect from the incident, who may have fled from police by leaping out a second story window in Utica.

Utica police said they responded to 280 Buena Vista Ave. for a domestic violence call at 11:41 a.m. Saturday. They found a woman with noticeable injuries, according to a press release.

Police attempted to make contact with the man who was still inside the home. Police said the man would not come out. He told officials he had weapons and would not be taken to jail, according to police.

Assisted by the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, SWAT officials entered the home that afternoon to discover the suspect had fled. Police Chief Clifford Bigler said the suspect likely jumped from a second story window.

Police did not say if a weapon was located. Bigler said they were searching the home for further evidence Saturday afternoon.

Bigler said charges and a warrant are pending against the suspect, but police declined to give any information on the suspect or the victim.
