One man is in custody, and police are looking for a second, after a fatal shooting on Sunday.

Police gathered in the United Dairy Farmers parking lot at Clime and Demorest roads to investigate after shots were fired at a nearby strip mall before 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the two victims, 22-year-old Raheem T. Dearmond and 25-year-old Toure E. Benton, drove to UDF after a shooting at 1425 Demorest Drive. Both were seriously injured from gunshot wounds.

Benton, the driver, told the store clerk to call 911 before he collapsed at the front door. Police found him leaning on a nearby wall. He was taken to Mount Carmel West in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable.

Medics pronounced Dearmond, who was still in the vehicle when police arrived, dead at the scene.

According to police, one of the suspects, 22-year-old Christopher Prater, turned himself in Wednesday night. Police continue to search for the other suspect, 18-year-old Joviyon Turner. Police ask anyone with information to call the homicide unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.
