Vincent Salamony sobbed with his head down as the case against him was read during his arraignment Monday.
Salamony, 24, was arrested and charged with the alleged murder of Ellen Clarke at her apartment on Sells Avenue Sunday.
According to court documents, Salamony allegedly went to Clarke’s apartment and began choking and stabbing her multiple times after they got into an argument.
Salamony allegedly told Hilliard police that he had been involved in a violent altercation involving Clarke, and when emergency crews arrived on scene, they found her unresponsive.
Salamony’s attorney, Paul Scott, said Salamony had recently suffered from a mental illness and that he knew of no other altercations between the couple, who had been dating for more than two years.
“We’ve got two families that are devastated. Two families that will be changed forever,” said Scott.
Bond for Salamony was set at $1 million and he is due back in court June 17 for a preliminary hearing.
