Columbus police called a Saturday night shooting a “sneak attack,” as one teenage girl was killed and another injured.
Another teen who lived at this home was shot in May, according to police reports. The 18-year-old boy was shot in the leg at 1601 Hawthorne Park near the Asian Festival. There were a pair of suspects, according to witnesses.
On Saturday, police said an unknown person fired multiple shots through a window and struck the girls at 467 E. 2nd Ave.
Medics responded to the shooting at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday. The 13-year-old was in critical condition; medics said she was not breathing as she left the scene. She was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center.
The 15-year-old was alert and left the scene in stable condition. She was taken to Grant Medical Center and later transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Police have not named the victims in this incident.
Officials have not released any suspect information in this case. Officers were looking for a white Cadillac Escalade seen leaving the area. Police ask anyone with information to call the homicide unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.
