Woman stable after serious crash closed I-270

FRANKLIN COUNTY (WCMH) — A woman is in stable condition after a serious crash shut down Interstate 270 for several hours.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said 42-year-old Sue Christian, of Columbus, is in stable condition at OSU Wexner Medical Center after colliding head-on with a semi-tractor and trailer around 4:48 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies said Christian, driving an SUV, struck the rear of the trailer that was stopped in traffic north of Alum Creek Drive near the village of Obeta. There was significant damage caused to the SUV.

The crash closed I-270 in both directions as a medical helicopter and crews worked at the scene. Traffic was diverted to U.S. 33.

The semi driver, Brent Booker, 44, of Chillicothe, was unharmed in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in this incident. The crash remains under investigation.
