BOULDER (NBC) – A bear wandered onto the University of Colorado campus in Boulder on Friday and caused quite a stir.
The bear decided to climb a tree near a residence hall.
The two-year-old bear found a resting spot about 30 feet up in the tree.
Wildlife officials say he was up there for about two hours until they decided to tranquilize it using a dart gun.
They prepared for the bear’s fall by putting mats on one side of the tree. Video shows the bear falling on the other side of the tree, missing those mats and hitting the ground.
Wildlife officials say the bear is doing okay and will be relocated away from campus.
