COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police continue to search for answers after a man was found dead in an east side park over the weekend.
Investigators said 23-year-old Dominique Thomas was found at the southwest corner of Franklin Park early Saturday morning.
On Sunday night, family and friends gathered to honor Thomas at the spot where his body was discovered.
“I’d just like to know who did it and why,” said Sandra Bowden, Thomas’ aunt. “He was already facing some health issues… Why would someone take an innocent life, that never bothered anybody?”
Columbus police said this is the 50th homicide investigation for the city this year.
“You hear about the killings everyday and at some point it has to stop,” Bowden said. “The youth killing each other, I mean it’s senseless.”
Investigators are awaiting an autopsy report before determining Thomas’ cause of death. The incident remains under investigation.
