COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Police say a man was backed over by an SUV in an alley just off of East Livingston Avenue Tuesday.

Just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Columbus police and EMS personnel were dispatched to an alley near the intersection of East Livingston Avenue and Lockbourne Road on a report of shooting.

Officers later found that a 37-year-old victim had not been shot, but had been backed over repeatedly by an SUV, according to Columbus police. The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center as a trauma patient with life-threatening injuries, but is expected to survive.

Police said the suspect drove the vehicle away from the scene, parking it in the back of 794 Miller Avenue. Dennis E. Lawson, 41, was arrested at the scene and charged with felonious assault.

The alley, just north of East Livingston Avenue, east of Lockbourne Road, was closed due to a damaged utility pole.

The incident remains under investigation.
