Man dead after Pickaway County shooting

DARBYVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — A man was found dead inside a home in Pickaway County Monday night.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after deputies found 54-year-old Charles Huffer laying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to his head.

Sheriff Robert Radcliff said the shooting took place at a home near the intersection of Main Street and Crystal Avenue, but Huffer did not live there.

Deputies located 21-year-old Garret Gartin and brought him in for questioning. Gartin was later charged with voluntary manslaughter and reckless homicide.

According to investigators, Gartin was Huffer’s nephew.
