Man accused of lighting woman on fire at Gahanna gas station

GAHANNA, Ohio (WCMH)-Police are investigating after a man allegedly poured flammable liquid on a woman and lit her on fire at a Gahanna gas station.

According to the Gahanna Division of Police, officers were called to the Speedway gas station in the 300 block of Agler Road Sunday, after receiving several calls of a woman on fire.

When officers arrived on scene they found an unidentified woman and 40-year-old Michael Slager suffering from significant burns. The woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Slager was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the investigation revealed that Slager poured what is believed to be gasoline on the woman and set her on fire.

Slager was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated arson and felonious assault.
