Missing Columbus woman found dead in Minnesota

RICE COUNTY, Minn. (WCMH) — Officials in Minnesota believe they have found the body of a Columbus woman who was reported missing last month.

Deputies from the Rice County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota said a 1999 Toyota was found unoccupied near Shagger Park on Cannon Lake. The vehicle was registered to 26-year-old Chelsea E. Martinez as the owner. She was reported missing on July 30 in Columbus, according to deputies.

A body was recovered Friday afternoon across the park from where her vehicle was located. Although it has not been positively identified, investigators believe it is her body.

jason robert nisbitA suspect, 39-year-old Jason Nisbit of Faribault, Minn., was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide according to deputies. Formal charges are expected to be filed on Monday.
