Bodies found in Whitehall home, police suspect murder-suicide

WHITEHALL, Ohio (WCMH) –Two people were found dead in a Whitehall home Monday in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

According to Whitehall police, officers were called to a home on the 4400 block of Saint Rita Lane after a roommate found Tom L. Folk, 54 and Tonda L. Fouch, 42 dead in a bedroom.

“He was depressed and feeling down about their breakup and things started escalating. I’m still numb knowing he went through with it,” said Craig Blair. He had been roommates with Folk for years and friends for 32 years.

Blair called 911 and reported that he discovered the bodies and believed they had been shot.

He and Folk’s estranged wife Carol Folk had come to check on him when he did not call her, Carol said.  “We were knocking at the bedroom door trying to figure out what was going on. And finally Kraig opened the door and we saw them there, first we just though they were sleeping,” she said.

Investigators say the couple had been living together for eight year and had since separated.

According to police, Folk called Fouch to the home in an attempt to get back together with her.

Blair said he has not slept since the shooting and blames himself.

“The Tom I knew wouldn’t – (choking up) I’m sorry, it is just I’m still thinking it is my fault for not understanding it,”  Blair said.

Folk shot Fouch at about 5 p.m. before turning the gun on himself, according to police.

Asked about the likelihood of Folk shooting the two, his wife was in disbelief.

“No, this totally opposite of him.”  He has made comments what could be so bad that you would take your own life,” she said.

Police are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
