Man charged with entering home, pretending to be police

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Stephen Christopher Marksberry was charged with aggravated robbery Friday after allegedly pretending to be a police officer to get into a woman’s house.

According to court documents, the victim heard a knock on the door at her apartment on Orel Avenue. She does not have a peep hole so she asked who was knocking. A male voice said it was police.

The woman cracked the door open and a Marksberry, who she knows from apartment building, pushed the door open, entered the home, and started throwing punches.

His punches missed the victim, but she sustained a large slice on her forearm while trying to fight him off. She hit him a few times and pulled his hair.

Her dog came to the rescue and bit the man in his rear end, tearing his denim pocket.

Police found his wallet, hair, and denim pocket in the apartment. His wallet had his bank card with his name on it. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
