Indonesia – officials confirm missing plane crashed

JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) – The domestic passenger aircraft that went missing over indonesia today (Sunday) has been located, according to officials.

The country’s air transportation director general says villagers reported seeing the aircraft crash into a mountain.

The Trigana Air Service plane with 54 people on board was en route from Jayapura to Oksibil.

It lost contact with ground control in Papua province roughly 30 minutes after takeoff.

Today’s search over forested and mountainous terrain was called off due to bad weather and lack of light.

The search will resume tomorrow (Monday), but more rough weather in coming days may impede those efforts. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
