Baby born during Seattle traffic stop

SEATTLE, Washington (NBC News)- A routine traffic stop in Seattle was just the start of a real roadside emergency in Seattle.

Police pulled over a speeding driver early Sunday, who was also running red lights. But instead of delivering a ticket, the officers helped to deliver a baby!

The desperate dad told police he and his wife could make it to the hospital, but the baby girl wasn’t waiting on anyone.

She entered the world with a full-throated cry, moments after dad was pulled over.

An officer had to clear the baby’s airway after she began struggling to breathe, but she was soon back to bellowing.

Everyone is doing well now and this is the couple’s fourth child. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
