Police: Mother confesses to killing all 3 sons in less than 2-year time period

Brittany Pilkington's husband, Joseph, has been arrested for sexual battery.

BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WCMH)- Bellefontaine police say a 23-year-old mom has confessed with killing her three sons in just more than a year.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, at about 3:04 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to an apartment in the 800 block of East Sandusky Avenue after receiving a 911 call from Brittany Pilkington that her 3-month old son was not breathing.

The child was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said an investigation began after it was determined this was the third death of a male child at the same residence.

According to police, on July 22, 2014 Pilkington’s 3-month old son Niall was found by the father when he arrived home from work. Because of a lack of evidence at the scene, no cause of death was determined.

Again, police were called to the residence April 6, 2015 after Pilkington’s 4-year-old son Gavin was found dead by the father. The child’s death was still an open investigation by police.

According to police, Pilkington confessed to the intentional killing of all three of her sons, after being interviewed by police throughout the day. Because of the confession and evidence collected, Pilkington has been charged with three counts of murder and is being held in the Logan County Jail.

Ed Cummins, her father, said he is trying to get answers.

“I’m blown out of the water, dude. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m just numb. I can’t even believe it.”

He said he thinks she deserves what may be coming.

“I hope she don’t get off scot-free.”

And while this community, spends a lot of time outdoors not many people say they saw the mother of four.

Of course, now most everyone, including LeAnn McKee, knows the crimes she’s accused of.

“I’m shocked and horrified that this happened,” McKee said.
