Neighbors describe unsettling feeling after triple homicide

WHITEHALL, Ohio (WCMH) — Twenty-four hours after 3 people died in a Whitehall apartment, neighbors are still in disbelief.

The unit is still taped up, and emotions are still shaken up here.

“It’s scary, just scary,” said one neighbor who didn’t want to share her name. “It’s too close to home. It’s troubling,” one neighbor who didn’t want to share her name said.

Those that live here still can’t make sense of it all, but know what it was like in the hours following.

“Got very little sleep, very little, my daughter got none,” the woman said. “It is just sad. I was saying to my neighbor if I didn’t just sign a lease I’d probably move.”

Some have been here for some time, and worry about what this means for them. For 2 years the Gelgelu family lived here, and all of that security is gone in an instant.

“It’s frustrating to watch someone shoot on these premises. It’s shocking,” Gossaye Gelgelu said.

“I feel very unsecure. That is sad.”

Now comes having to live here, and know how pain one incident caused.

“As I’m driving home, I’m thinking, “God, do I even want to go home?’ It’s an eerie feeling,” the woman said.
