DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH)– A Delaware County jury has found two of the three family members guilty for running what the state calls sex-for-pay brothels.
According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien, who was appointed special prosecutor in the case, Estella Xu and her sister Qing Xu were found guilty by a jury of eight counts of promoting prostitution, three counts of money laundering, and three counts of practicing medicine without a license after a two week trial. The jury also returned human trafficking specifications.
The third defendant Xiaoshaung Chao, the husband of Quing Xu, was found not guilty.
The owner and family employees operated three massage parlors in Powell, Hilliard and Worthington. They were accused of keeping women against their will, and forcing them to sleep at night on their massage tables. The women were brought into the central Ohio parlors from Los Angeles, New York and Miami.
The parlors were raided after an anonymous tip lead Powell police and the human trafficking task force to investigate.
The defendants will be sentenced at a later date.
