Second suspect in custody after Delaware bank robbery

DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) — Deputies say the second suspect in a Delaware County bank robbery has been taken into custody after a multiple-hour search in the Polaris area.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, two men, 24-year-old Jonathan E. Leon and 19-year-old Alonzo D. Grace, allegedly robbed a PNC bank in the City of Delaware at about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

An employee of the Delaware Gazette saw one of the suspects enter the bank. She asked not to be identified for this story. “I was standing outdoors and I saw a walking through the parking lot and he stopped and looked at me, then went into the bank.”

She said within minutes, the area turned into a crime scene. “When all the police came they were here with their guns pointing at the bank waiting for another person to come out.”

Two men working in the building got caught up in the robbery.

“Installing carpet in the lower level, came out to go to my truck and I was stopped by a police officer, said the bank was robbed and forced us into the lobby where they checked us to make sure we weren’t the robbers I suppose,” said Mike Guisinger of GGC Wholesale Carpet.

Police and deputies pursued the suspects south to Polaris Parkway and South Old State Road where the men bailed from the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s office.

Deputies said one suspect was caught shortly after the vehicle pursuit, and the second suspect was taken into custody later in the day.

Deputies ask anyone with information on this robbery to call the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office at 740-833-2800.
