Bond set for caregiver accused of sexually assaulting disabled woman

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — More details are being released on a case involved a medical caregiver accused of raping a woman with severe disabilities.

Bond was set at $150,000 for Harry Yruegas, the former caretaker at Heinzerling Developmental Center in southwest Columbus, in a Franklin County court on Saturday.

A unit manager at the center walked in on Yruegas as he was sexually assaulting a resident, according to police. Officials said the victim had ailments that prevented her from walking or speaking.

Police said Yruegas told them he could not control himself, and that he has sexually violated the victim on multiple occasions.

Yruegas is scheduled to reappear in court on September 11.
