Man recovered from beach at Deer Creek State Park

PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio (WCMH) — Officials have identified the body that was recovered at Deer Creek State Park Monday afternoon.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office said the body of a 29-year-old Juvanel Vazquez Rodriguez was pulled from the water near the beach after reports of a drowning.

Pickaway County Marine Patrol officials responded to the scene at about 2 p.m. Monday after reports of a possible drowning. Dive teams from Franklin and Pickaway counties responded and the body was recovered just after 4 p.m.

Deputies told NBC4 the victim was in the area with friends and went underwater. He did not come back up, and friends called 911 for help.

The body was found in about 12 feet of water in the designated swimming area of the beach.
