COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The excitement is building for OSU fans, and local businesses are gearing up to cash in on the big game.
Restaurants and bars in the South Campus Gateway area have been working hard preparing for the big crowds. The area is expected to be hopping as fans, food and football lovers come to enjoy their Buckeyes.
The businesses in this area are accustomed to the game day crowds and some of the new restaurants are ready to participate.
World of Beer is opening its business off High Street for the first time on Monday. Darren Greene, an owner of World of Beer, said his restaurant is stocked.
“We have 500 beers in the bottle. We do another 50 on tap so we have about $60,000 worth of beer ready to go so we won’t run out of beer,” said Greene. “It’s a holiday, the first Buckeye game so we’re excited to have that as our first day. Really we’ve chosen that purposely and we want to open with a bang.”
Rachael Mills, manager of Eddie George’s Grille 27, said staff there is expecting a packed house and big profits.
“Typically we’re pretty busy when it’s OSU game days. We quadruple the business. Everybody flocks in,” said Mills.
The famous National Championship Nachos remain on the menu for guests to enjoy.
