Fatal crash reported near Grove City

GROVE CITY, Ohio (WCMH) –A man is dead after the vehicle he is driving flips and catches fire Thursday morning.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, at about 7:55 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the reports of a single-vehicle crash in the area of state Route 665 and Zuber Road.

Witnesses told deputies that a 1976 red Jeep, being driven by 37-eyar-old Richard R. Gay, was traveling east on S.R. 665, when it lost control and went off the right side of the roadway.

Deputies said the vehicle then struck a culvert, rolled onto its top and caught fire. Gay, of Grove City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation but deputies said neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors at this time.
