COSHOCTON, Ohio (WCMH) — A man is facing murder charges after the death of a 7-month-old girl in Coshocton County.
According to the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on September 8 in reference to a 7-month-old girl being the victim of apparent child abuse.
The girl was later taken to Akron Children’s Hospital by helicopter.
Early in the morning on September 11, the girl died from injuries suffered in the abuse, according to police.
Sheriff Tim Rogers said
“It saddens me and it saddens everybody in this office when things like this happen involving children, he said. “This is something we do take very very seriously, and we work around the clock to make sure we can get somebody charges as quickly as we can and certainly we’ll continue to do that.”
Police arrested 23-year-old Nathan M. D’Ostroph and charged him with murder.
According to police, D’Ostroph was babysitting the girl at the time of the abuse.
The girl’s cause of death has not been released.
No other details were released. The incident remains under investigation.
