Man found dead after east Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — More shots were fired after police responded to a fatal shooting in east Columbus late Monday night.

Columbus medics pronounced 27-year-old Anthony R. Sowell Jr. dead near the intersection of East Main Street and South Napoleon Avenue just after 11 p.m. Crews on scene reported finding a male body in the street.

Several 911 callers described a fight happening in the street and hearing several gunshots.

While police officers worked at the scene into early Tuesday morning, more shots were fired nearby.

There are no suspects at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
