Suspect dies after Reynoldsburg home invasion

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH) – One man was killed and another injured late Sunday night after being shot in a Reynoldsburg home.

The shooting was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday inside a home on the 8300 block of Priestley Drive.

According to Reynoldsburg police, a woman called 911 and said she was doing laundry when she heard someone inside her house. She and her 9-year-old son went to the basement while another family member confronted the intruder.

That family member exchanged gunfire with the intruder, according to police.

Gunfire can be heard in the background of the 911 call.

Police say the intruder, 18-year-old Joshua Kenzell Collins was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition where he later died. The family member was also hospitalized, but is expected to be okay.

Police say another man was seen running from the scene. A description of that man was not provided.

Investigators do not believe this incident was a random act of violence and that the home was targeted.
