12-year-old injured in Columbus drive-by shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A 12-year-old boy remains in the hospital after he was shot during a drive-by shooting Tuesday.

According to Columbus police, it happened shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday in the area of 880 Caldwell Place in Columbus.

Witnesses told police there was a group of people behind 880 Caldwell Place when a silver car, possibly a Cadillac, stopped at the intersection of Caldwell Place and Old Leonard Avenue. The front seat passenger fired four or 5 shots at the group, striking a 12-year-old boy.

The vehicle was last seen driving away from the scene.

The 12-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

Police ask that anyone with information call police at 645-4141 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 461-TIPS.
