COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Governor John Kasich tells Late Night host Seth Meyers he felt like the only grown-up candidate on the stage in the last Republican debate.
“The first debate was a little more orderly and went well. The second one, do you know what a demolition derby is? I was just trying not to crash my car into the wall,” Kasich told Meyers.
Kasich also addressed sagging national poll numbers. The latest CNN/ORC poll shows Kasich is 10th among the remaining candidates.
“National polls don’t matter right now. What matters is what happens a little bit in the caucus in Iowa. But then, what really matters, is what happens in New Hampshire, and right now I’m in the top tier in New Hampshire in a very short period of time,” Kasich said.
At one point in the interview, Meyers even offered to kick in a couple bucks to keep Kasich’s campaign alive, at least through the final debates. The Kasich campaign quickly tweeted a donation link for Meyers.
