2 dead following suspected murder-suicide in Lancaster

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) — A man and woman in their 80s are dead following a suspected murder-suicide in Lancaster.

It happened just before 1 a.m. on Coldspring Drive in Lancaster.

Police identified the victims as Ruth Van Evra and Robert Van Evra.

According to Lancaster police, Robert Van Evra’s son received a phone call saying that his father intended to kill his wife and then himself.

When police arrived at the home, they found the body of 83-year-old Ruth Van Evra in the bedroom an apparent gunshot wound.

Robert Van Evra, 83, was also found lying on the bed with a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Lancaster police and Ohio BCI are now investigating.
