ZANESFIELD, Ohio (WCMH) — Investigators have not been able to determine what started the fire at Mad River Mountain lodge earlier this month.

A representative from the State Fire Marshal’s office told NBC4 “neither discarded smoking materials nor an electrical failure could be ruled out as the cause of the fire.”

The 52-year-old structure in Logan County caught fire the evening of Sept. 16. It burned for hours, with 15 fire departments responding from four counties to assist. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Employees at Mad River Mountain have started a GoFundMe page to help support the ski patrol after their faculty and personal equipment were lost in the fire.
