SEATTLE (WCMH) — A former music teacher at Bishop Watterson who was arrested for child exploitation charges had taken a new teaching job in Seattle.

Brian Sze, 34, was fired by the Office of Catholic Schools in June and left Bishop Watterson. He began teaching band at Lakeside School in Washington, but was arrested late Tuesday on state child exploitation charges after special agents executed a federal search warrant at his residence.

Lakeside said it conducted a “full and thorough” background and criminal history check and received “multiple positive references from his (Sze’s) previous place of employment.”

A statement from the school lists four employees from Bishop Watterson or St. Brigid of Kildare schools who allegedly recommended Sze for the position.

The Diocese of Columbus said “while no Bishop Watterson administrator or the Office of Catholic Schools was contacted by Lakeside School to discuss Mr. Sze’s employment, we have been advised that some employees in the diocese may have been contacted. The Office of Catholic Schools is currently gathering information about this and will review it upon receipt.”

Sze has been fired from Lakeside School and will return to Ohio to face charges. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
