GROVE CITY, Ohio (WCMH) — A Grove City man is seeing his vision come to life at the World of Wonders Museum at the Grove City Visitor’s Center and Museum.
Bob Traphagan has been collecting military memorabilia for 25 years.
He has thousands of items ranging from helmets, replica weapons, to uniforms.
“It’s almost like treasure hunting in some ways to find that item that’s really unusual right down to the items that are so common like sewing kits and shaving kits and small items,” collector Bob Traphagan said.
Traphagan’s collection has even inspired other people in the community to share military items from their loved ones or their own time in the military.
“There’s a lot of people, especially young people, their eyes are wide open because they’ve never seen anything like this and also the generosity of him wanting to share his collection of 25 years is just amazing,” Grove City Visitor’s Center and Museum Don Ivers said.
The mother of fallen Grove City hero, Joseph Riley, brought in his uniform, medals, and pictures to be displayed.
Traphagan’s ultimate goal is to have the collection find a more permanent home as the Central Ohio Military Museum.
