1 dead, 1 injured in Cleveland Avenue shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Police are investigating after one person was pronounced dead in a shooting in northeast Columbus.

The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. Thursday at 3881 Cleveland Avenue in Columbus.

According to police, a man entered the La Michoacana Market with rifle and began shooting at two people behind the counter.

Bacilio Alcauter, 36 was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim, a 15-year-old girl was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Police are searching for the suspect, who was last seen heading westbound on Case Road in an older model, two-door vehicle.

Police are now investigating the motive for the robbery. Investigators said that it did not appear to be robbery related.

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask that anyone with information call Columbus police at 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 461-TIPS.
