COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — There were several moments of terror for families on a street near the New Albany-Columbus border on Friday morning.
It was on Pond Lily court, across from the Lily Pond, where a street became chaos.
“Somebody’s trying to break into our house…they’re coming in through the window,” a woman could be heard on the Columbus Police 9-1-1 call.
“There’s some banging and yelling out front, we can’t see what’s going on, but yelling and screaming and banging,” said another man from another house.
What appeared to be a crazed man was going door to door, wanting in and screaming for someone named Jeff.
“He’s going door to door…or he’s going house to house pounding on the doors.”
“Somebody’s breaking into our house now, we need police now.”
But it was at this house where he did the most damage.
The homeowner had to use a knife to defend themselves while this man tried to come in.
“Yes, he’s been stabbed,” said the woman at the house where he was trying to break in.
“There’s blood all over my front door because we had to get a knife.”
“It’s from him cutting himself on the window?” asked the dispatcher.
“No it’s from us trying to…he was trying to climb in through the window so we got a knife, so Dave was defending himself.”
About an hour later, the man was found hiding in bushes behind this home on Silverglade Drive a few miles away and according to neighbors he was taken away in handcuffs.
What he was doing, who he was looking for, what were his intentions haven’t been released.
