NEWARK, Ohio (WCMH) –Takiesha Black says she decided to attend her brother’s court hearing Thursday because she wants him to go to prison for good.
Roger Black Jr., a registered sex offender, is charged in connection with an alleged rape that occurred Oct. 17. He is also a suspect in a separate incident that occurred Oct. 11.
Court documents say the victim in the Oct. 11 incident positively identified Black in a photo lineup.
Black, 31, was convicted of rape, gross sexual imposition and abduction in 2004 and served 8 years in prison. He was also behind bars for the first half of 2015 for violating his parole.
Black was arrested Wednesday evening when he showed up at the Licking County jail to check in with his parole officer
The victim in the Oct. 17 assault describes being lured into a vehicle and then raped repeatedly at knifepoint.
Takiesha Black had a message for the victims.
“I am sorry for what this monster did to them and I understand the pain that they’re going through and I will pray for them daily.”
Takiesha says she worried that her brother would reoffend after getting out of prison.
“He needs mental help,” she says. “Anyone who can hold somebody for hours against their will and make them perform sexual acts is disgusting and shows that he is clearly mental in some sort of way.”
Takiesha Black held her baby daughter in the courtroom during Thursdays arraignment. She says she hopes to protect her daughter from this chapter of family history.
“I honestly don’t want her to know him,” she said. “I will teach her everything she needs to protect herself. I don’t want her to know him – don’t want her to know what kind of person he was.”
