LOS ANGELES, California (NBC) — A baby giraffe is stretching its long legs for the first time in public at the Los Angeles Zoo in California.
Just under six feet tall and weighing 130 pounds the male masai was born October 9, 2015.
The healthy mother and baby didn’t need any assistance from the zoo staff during birth.
The new giraffe is the first born to four-year-old mother Zainabu.
A threatened species, the zoo welcomes visitors to come see the baby masai who is expected to be nearly 10 feet tall by its first birthday.
