Woman struck and killed in hit-skip accident

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus Police say a woman was struck and killed by a motorist who then fled the scene of the accident on Worthington Galena Road near Lazelle Road.

The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. Sunday.

According to a crash report, 22-year-old Griselda Amarilis Lopez Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers initially reported the victim was a child, but later determined otherwise.

According to the crash report, a burgundy/maroon colored side mirror was left at the crash scene. Police eventually matched that mirror to a 2005 maroon Buick Lacrosse that was parked on Scenic Club Drive. The report said that damage to the front end and windshield indicated that the car had been in a recent crash.

The car was impounded for further investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time.
