Search for missing boater to resumes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – On Sunday crews searched for more than seven hours for a boater that disappeared after jumping into the water Saturday night on Hoover Reservoir after the boat suffered a power failure.  Just after 5 p.m. the search was called off after divers spent the day searching in 55 degree water.

On Monday, crews returned and searched the water north of the area where the boater went missing. According to firefighters, they will continue to search Hoover Reservoir using sonar equipment until the sun goes down or they find the boater.

IMG_0018A total of five boats from Genoa Township, Berlin Township and ODNR went in the water just before 10:00 a.m. Sunday.

On Saturday a sailboat lost power after leaving Red Bank Harbor, and drifted into a sandbar where the boat got stuck. One of the boatersIMG_0020 hopped out and attempted push the vessel back out into deeper water. The man never returned to the boat.
