GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WCMH) — Students at East Clinton High School in Clinton County will return to school with heavy hearts after two seniors were killed in a crash over the weekend.

Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth said 17-year-old Anderson Vannieuwenhze lost control of his vehicle while driving south on U.S. 62 just north of the Highland County line. The car left the roadway, struck a ditch and a utility pole, and came to rest in a field.

Both Vannieuwenhze and his 18-year-old passenger Brandon Newman were pronounced dead at the scene.
